Surprisingly, perhaps, Mark Williams reports that the average level of anxiety now is equivalent to clinical levels in the 1950s, leading to more stress than ever amongst people in their 30s, 40s and 50s.
Some of the common signs that people are stressed include feeling over-tired, getting irritable, and rushing around – from one task to another – in an effort to escape their own worries. Neuroscience has shown that, in this state, the emotional part of the brain is on high alert all the time.
